PNB Local Bank Officer Salary / Pay Scale

The Local Bank Officer post is in JMGS-I.

The prescribed scale of pay is:

₹48,480 – ₹2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – ₹2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – ₹2,680/7 – ₹85,920

In simple terms, the starting basic pay is ₹48,480 per month, while the basic pay can progress up to ₹85,920 through the prescribed increments.

Apart from basic pay, selected candidates will be entitled to benefits and allowances according to PNB rules, including:

PNB LBO Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

The candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline from a University/Institution recognised or approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies.

The candidate must have a valid marksheet/degree certificate and must indicate the percentage obtained in graduation while applying online.

The maximum age of 30 years applies to Unreserved and EWS candidates. The notification also contains specific rules regarding cumulative relaxation and documentary proof.


Work Experience

This is an important eligibility condition.

Candidates must have a minimum of one year of post-qualification work experience in the Clerical or Officer Cadre in:

  • Scheduled Commercial Banks, or

  • Regional Rural Banks listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI Act, 1934.

The experience must be acquired after completion of graduation and is reckoned as on the closing date of online registration.

Candidates who have previous experience as an officer in Scheduled Commercial Banks may be eligible for advance increments, subject to the conditions specified by PNB. A maximum of two advance increments may be available for eligible prior service in Scheduled Commercial Banks.


Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the state for which they are applying.

Proficiency means the ability to:

The Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) will be conducted by an external agency.

Candidates who studied the specified local language as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12 can be exempted from the LLPT, provided they submit valid documentary evidence.
