PNB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026 – Brief Description
Punjab National Bank has invited online applications for the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I).
This recruitment is specifically designed for candidates who already have banking experience. Unlike many graduate-level bank recruitments, candidates applying for PNB LBO 2026 must possess at least one year of post-qualification work experience in Clerical/Officer Cadre in an eligible Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank.

PNB LBO 2026 – Important Local Language Rule
Candidates must be proficient in the local language specified for their selected State.
A Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) will be conducted for candidates who have not studied the concerned local language as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12.
Candidates who have studied the specified language in Class 10 or 12 can be exempted from the LLPT, provided they submit valid documentary evidence during verification.
The LLPT is qualifying in nature. A candidate who fails the LLPT will not be considered for final selection, regardless of performance in the written examination or interview.

PNB LBO Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification

The degree must be from a University/Institution recognised or approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies.

PNB LBO Screening Process
Candidates qualifying in the Online Written Test will undergo document/application screening.
PNB will scrutinise the online application and supporting documents to determine whether the candidate fulfils the eligibility requirements before proceeding to the LLPT, wherever required, and/or interview.
If a candidate is found ineligible or the submitted documents are incorrect or false, the candidature can be rejected at that stage.
PNB Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
Candidates who have not studied the relevant State language in Class 10 or Class 12 will have to appear in the LLPT.

PNB LBO 2026 – Important Service Conditions
1. State Posting
Selected candidates will be posted within the State for which they applied.
The notification states that LBOs will remain posted in the same State until:
Completion of 9 years of service, or
Promotion to SMG Scale IV,
whichever occurs earlier.
The initial vacancy section similarly specifies State-based posting for nine years or until promotion to SMG Scale IV, whichever is earlier.
2. Probation
Selected Local Bank Officers will be on probation for:

from the date of joining.
Confirmation will be governed by the applicable Punjab National Bank Officers' Service Regulations.
3. Indemnity Bond
Selected candidates must execute an indemnity bond agreeing to serve PNB for at least:

PNB LBO 2026 – CIBIL / Credit History Requirement
Candidates must maintain a healthy credit history.
