Important Vacancy Rules

  • Candidates can apply for one state only.

  • A candidate applying for one state cannot apply for another state.

  • Merit lists will be prepared state-wise and category-wise.

  • PwBD reservation is horizontal and selected candidates will be placed in the appropriate SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR category.

  • Selected candidates will be posted within the state selected by them for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.

IOB LBO Advance Increment for Previous Banking Experience

IOB provides an advance-increment provision for eligible candidates who have previous officer-level experience in Scheduled Commercial Banks.

  • One advance increment may be granted for each completed year of prior service as an Officer in Scheduled Commercial Banks.

  • A maximum of two advance increments can be granted.

  • The previous job profile must substantially match the Scale-I Generalist Officer role of IOB.

  • Candidates working with subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks may be eligible for one increment.

  • Prior experience will not be counted for service seniority.

 

 

IOB LBO Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • A Degree/Graduation in any discipline.

  • The degree must be from a University/Institution recognised or approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies.

  • The candidate must possess a valid marksheet/degree certificate showing that they are a graduate at the time of registration.

  • Graduation percentage must be entered in the online application.

Is Banking Experience Mandatory for IOB LBO?

The IOB notification does not prescribe a minimum one-year banking experience as a basic eligibility requirement.

Previous banking experience is mentioned in the notification primarily in connection with advance increments, subject to the specified conditions. Candidates should nevertheless carefully provide documentary proof wherever experience details are requested in the application/interview process.

The online examination has separate timings for each section.

Negative Marking

There is negative marking in the online examination.

For every incorrect answer, 1/4th (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

There is no penalty for an unanswered question.

IOB LBO Probation Period

Candidates selected for appointment as Local Bank Officers will be placed on probation for:

2 years of active service

The probation period starts from the date of joining the Bank. Confirmation will be governed by the applicable Officers' Service Regulations.
